My goal when designing subText was to create the illusion of a vast, varied high-school populace with a handful of actors double-cast in twenty roles throughout the course of the play's ten scenes. 

My strategy was to think of all the different niches and cliques high schoolers file into, categorizing each character by their interests, personalities, and plausible year-book superlatives.

At its realization, each character's costume read as their own unique piece to the high school experience.

This design was awarded Meritorious Achievement in Costume Design by the Kennedy Center American College Theatre Festival.
