Wilderness

After several semesters of working on lighting design for filmed staged productions due to COVID-19 restrictions, I was relieved that Wilderness brought me the opportunity to design for in-person eyes.

Through wonderful collaboration with projection designer, Liz Crifasi, set designer, Rene Nielsen, director Kathleen McKinley, and assistant lighting designer, Sunshine de Castro, we synthesized Wilderness' ever-shifting worlds between the great outdoors, surreal movement sequences, and zoom-style interviews. This resulted in a dreamy, yet grounded and integrated design that honored the true stories of the families impacted by trauma and rehabilitation programs.
